Life and Times of Mrs. Cheryl "C.J." Jelks

Mrs. Cheryl Ann Watson was bron November, 25 1961, in Detroit, Michigan. The daughter of Alonzo Watson and Margery Watson. Cheryl Was born as the second of three children. Cheryl was baptized in accordance with the rights of the Roman Catholic Church at Holy Ghost Catholic Church and she attended the school until 3rd grade. After the Holy Ghost Catholic Church and School closed she attended public schools. She attended Persing Highschool and was a part of their cheerleading sqaud. As a teenager she had a host of jobs. She graduated from Pershing Highshool in 1979. Cheryl loved to help people so started working at Harper Hospital. While she was at Harper she took classes at Wayne State Medical School, where she received her EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) Certification. After working for Harper Hospital for several years, she met and fell in love with Anthony Jelks. The later married on July 11, 1987. Cheryl Ann Jelks, or beter known as "C.J." to her family and friends. Cheryl and Anthony moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to start their family. They had two children, Brittany Rae and Brandon Leonard. Cheryl was a long time member of the Light of the World Christian Church. While living here in Indianapolis, she found the love of art and became a licensed nail technician and seamstress. Cheryl had many customers and was creative in designing dresses for wedding parties. Cheryl's main passion was fishing and she spent many hours on the water in both Indiana and Michigan. Traveling was also a big part of Cherl's life. She loved seeing new places. She shared many family vacations in Hawaii, Cancun and the Carribbean, but her favorite was Florida, where she could fish off the coast. She fulfilled one of her greatest passions when she went deep sea fishing in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Mrs. Cheryl Ann "C.J." Jelks departed this life on Tuesdsay, June 6, 2006, at the age of 44 years, 6 months, and 11 days. She is survived by her husband, Anthony; children, Brittany and Brandon; parents, Alonzo and Margery Watson; siblings Amelia and Lynn (Carmen) Watson; mother-in-law, Gladys Jelks; sisters-in-law, Ann Jelks, Kimberly O'Bryant, Norma Jelks; stepdaughters, Nicole and Antonia; stepgrandchildren and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her dearly.
